Yazuri brought her knees up balacing her book against them as she drew, lightly sketching what she could remember of his face. She often found herself doing this, it was relaxing and it helped her keep her mind off of everything. She was safe from her mother here at least.
She traced over a lighter lane making it darker, his eyes were starting to show up now, then his mouth, curved up into a smile, not too obnoxious just one that might be happy to see her. She doodled his messy hair. It was curious how he showed up just when she was ready to give up and let go.
"This is what you were born to do my child"
She outlined the edges of his face again.
"Your talents were given to you for a purpose"
She frowned as she couldn't get his expression right, his eyes didn't match his mouth, he looked more weary then anything. She started again erasing bits here and there.
"Build up all the anger.. feel it, and then let it go, they must pay...
She hadn't realized she had just erased a hole into the paper, she closed her eyes and then leaned back. The thoughts wouldn't clear out of her head.

Ava Vogel was dead.
Ryan Vogel was sick to his stomach. His parents had found out through The Daily Prophet. "DEATH EATER KILLED BY AUROR" the headlines had read. Of course, it was the best news in the world to most people. But to Ryan, it wasn't. First, Ava was his sister. She was his closest friend. Second, Ava was a Death Eater, and now the whole school knew he was related to a Death Eater. This was bad, as Ryan was in training. He would be kept under watch now.
Thank goodness for Jason Caldwell.
Anyways, Ryan was trying to keep down low. He didn't even want to look at anyone who wasn't a Slytherin, knowing that any of them could become an Auror one day. And Ryan would kill them. He'd get his revenge.
He was sulking and walking into the common room, trying not to go insane with anger, when he saw Yazuri Mao. She was a pretty girl, his year, and suddenly Ryan smiled. He remembered his mission. Ava wouldn't want Ryan to let their Lord down. He could make time to grieve later.
"Hey Yazuri," Ryan said, walking up to where she was sitting. "What's up?"

"Ryan" she said surprised at first, she didnt' expect to see him here honestly she expected to see him gone, she had read about his sister. "Nothing really I was just messing around", she guestered to the sketch pad and realized it was Vincent she had been drawing and flipped it closed.
"I'm", she frowned she always hated these formalities that people had to say anyway, "I'm sorry about your sister.. I heard, my mother owled me the article, for some reason she thought I should know" why her mother did the things she did she was never sure. "I know this sounds stupid, but if you need anything... even if its a good stiff drink.. actually especailly if its a good stiff drink, i'm here" she shrugged. Now that those formalities were over with, she never hated Ryan, he was a bit dark, but most Slytherins were and his family's history explained it.
In fact he was usually quite nice to her, at parties... anywhere. They had something of a friendship, but never had really confided in eachother, like Yazuri didn't know his sister was a deatheater. Of course everyone suspected Yazuri's mother.

He noticed the sketch of Vincent - he was clothed in it, luckily- but it made him a bit jealous. Ryan had never really had strong feelings for Yazuri beyond friendship, and thinking she was pretty, but Vincent Fawkes as a Gryffindor. His anger made him jealous.
Ryan shrugged and sort of flopped down next to her. "A good stiff drink anytime would be fine with me, but don't feel obligated." He knew why her mother had owled her the article. Her mother was a Death Eater too; Ryan had heard about her from his sister when she was alive. Yazuri didn't want to be a Death Eater, but before long she wouldn't have a choice.
"Your mother... she's an interesting one," he said quietly, mostly to himself but he hoped she would hear him.

She watched him carefully she didn't fully trust anyone in her own house. For good reason too, then again her mother had taught her not to trust anyone, especailly a man with a pretty face, so Ryan already had three strikes against him. "Maybe sometime", she replied not exactly setting the date.
She snapped to attention when the conversation shifted to her mother, Yazuri went rigid, clearly uncomfortable, "She's my mother", Yazuri commented as if that explained everything, "She's raised me and cared for me, I couldn't ask more of her", she left out the oh and she wants me to be a deatheater, but I dont plan on asking that from her, ever again. She had met the dark lord, she had seen things...
Her edgyness turned on her perfect Slytherin form, "I'm sorry is there something you wanted?" her body went loose again, her features softened.

Ryan shrugged and seemed to be upset. "I don't know. Ava never told me that she was a Death Eater, as close as we were. It's kind of shocking to learn, especially in this manner."
He stood up and stretched slightly and turned to her. "I guess I thought you could relate a little, is all. It's hard having everyone against you for something that isn't even your fault." Ryan wasn't sure if playing the 'woe-is-me' card would have any affect on her, as he wasn't sure if she was sympathetic towards him. But it was worth a shot, and Ryan definitely wanted to take every chance he could to get her to trust him.

"I can", she paused, well now she was admitting to her mother being a deatheater, wonderful the secret she had to hold all her life, and she could just say it. Her mother didn't control her anymore. "My mother..." she never called her mom, or mommy even when she was little, it was always mother. What kind of women made her children hold such formality all the time. "She's a deatheater", she said quietly, "I know how it is", then again did Ryan actually know? Was his sister training him to be a deatheater since he was born? Did he learn dark arts before he learned the most simplest charms.
"My mother was lost too me a long time ago, theres no room for anyone else when you worship the dark lord", she sighed, then whispered something in Vietnamese that wasn't meant for Ryan's ears. "But I know.. the way people look at you, like your going to turn around and kill them at every turn", she stood with him and put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "It's ridiculous, that someone should be punished for their relations".
She looked at his face for a moment, before realizing she was staring and looking away, with a bit of a shyness to her. He was very attractive, she could see how the other Slytherin girls fell all over him, Yazuri however never fell over anyone. She flirted occasionally had some snogging sessions in a few broom closets here and there, but nothing ever serious. It was hilarious to her how women threw themselves at men, because Yazuri wasn't raised that way, she was raised to be in control and to dominate the men around you, because if not, they'll turn on you in a second. Which is why she removed her hand from Ryan and fell back into her Slytherin facade, as if she was two different people fighting for power over her own self. On the outside she just seemed like a bitchy Slytherin girl, who maybe had her moments of softness.

Ryan did his best to remain looking crestfallen, and in all actuality it was easy. He was very upset about his sister's death, and almost felt guilty about using the news of her death and allegiance to his Dark Lord to his advantage. But, Ava would understand.
He nodded, listening to her. "That's how Ava was... I guess I should have figured it out sooner, but I also figured she would tell me. All the signs were there, though. She was withdrawn, didn't come over or talk much after she moved out. Everytime I saw her, she wasn't how she was when we were kids. Not that we ever had much of a childhood," Ryan said curtly.
Ryan remembered growing up with his father being a professor of Dark Arts at Durmstrang. He never really pushed either of them into following the Dark Lord, and neither of his parents were Death Eaters, but it wouldn't have been frowned upon. They knew their fair share of jinxes and curses before heading to Hogwarts, and fighting the Muggle kids (and occasionally hexing them) was never a cause for punishment.
He looked at her. "I'm sorry about your mum," he said, sounding sincere. "Must be terrible to be raised like that. Do you hate her?" he asked, sitting next to her, perhaps a little too close.

Yazuri wasn't even certain of her own answer, but she said what was expected of her. "She's my blood", she added, "she raised me to be strong if nothing else", Yazuri was quite spectacular with a wand. She could do wonderful and very terrible things with one.
"I can't hate her for what she was made to do by the generations before her", she added, her family history wasn't well known, and they liked to keep it that way, but it was similair to deatheater parents forcing thier kids to be the same way except their ways existed long before Voldemort. She glanced over to him and realized her vision didn't have to travel far he was sitting near her. She faultered for a moment and then scooted away just a little. Men were not to be trusted. She was starting to sound like her mother.
She sighed, hating her mother would make all this easier, but in fact, she missed her mother. Even through the deatheater she was still Yazuri's mother and before she was the matron, before her grandmother died her life revolved around taking care of the girl. That's how it happened in her family there was one matron and the rest had time of peace before they stepped into those shoes. All that would end with Yazuri, as would the family line.. all their traditions, it was a heavy weight to lift.

Ryan noticed her scooting away, and thought he was losing his opportunity. Yazuri was not easy to get to; he should have realized this, as she has a Death Eater for a mum.
He decided to take a stab in the dark at something, and hoped that this would make his job easier. "Part of me is glad that she's gone though," he said slowly and quietly, making it seem as though he was afraid to say what he was going to, as if he might get in trouble with the Dark Lord himself for saying it. "Ava was the type of girl... she may have brought me to him, you know? And sort of forced me to follow in her footsteps, because she doesn't take 'no' for an answer.... I wouldn't want to do that. Part of me thinks that if she hadn't died when she did, I would have ended up hating her for forcing me to do something like that, because it just seems inevitable." He was quiet then, and turned his head to look away from her, towards the fireplace in the center of the empty commonroom.

Yazuri's head titled slightly as if she was rememberring something, she knew how that pressure could feel, and how intoxicating the dark arts were. She had been born into them, she knew alright. She could understand the mixed feelings how easy it would all be if her mother would just go away for good, she'd never have to worry about it again.
"I undstand", Yazuri said looking down at her sketchbook. She put her hand on his arm in a comforting guesture. She just felt like he needed to be reached out to, that maybe one little guesture would make it ok if only for a few seconds.

Ryan let her hand rest on his arm for a minute as the two sat in silence, and then he pulled it away. When he looked back at Yazuri, he had a pained look in his eyes, like a broken puppy.
When he spoke, his voice was even, quiet, but stiff. "No, you don't. Just because your mum is a Death Eater doesn't mean you understand completely." He turned away from her and leaned forward, his head in his hands. "Not the pressure... I don't think you get what would have happened had Ava brought me to him, had I said no and refused him, refused her wishes."

Yazuri laughed, honestly laughed like out loud. "I don't undersatnd", the thought was hilarious to her, it was this.... boy, who didn't understand. Her hand instinctively went to her wand, like it always did when her anger rose, and it was definetly rising, Yazuri may be quite and reserved, but she was a firey one when she was pissed.
"I've lived it, you idiot", she stood, "I leanred dark arts before I even know what a charm was, and don't even talk to me about the Dark Lord, no one says no to him, if you'd seen him, hes snakelike and scary, but theres something else about him, something intoxicating, you can feel the power he has and you can't get enough of it, I dont care if your the simplest person on the face of this planet, you'll feel the pull" of course Yazuri's mom had brought ther daughter to the dark lord.
"You want to talk about pressure, i've been training since I was born", she hissed. What did he know, so his sister was a deatheater big deal, her entire family was based on the dark arts, passed down from generation to generation. She really wanted to use one of those lovely painful spells she had learned right now, but she refrained. She stood there glaring.

Ryan's eyes were wide and shocked as Yazuri admitted to him part of her past, the part he had pretended not to know and seemed shocked at hearing. He was quiet as he listened, patient, and the pained look he had became a look of understanding.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know.... it was that serious." He watched her. "I don't want you to think that I feel sorry for you... I don't. I was wrong for assuming you didn't understand. My family just approves of the dark arts, we were forced into it like you. I can't imagine how life would have been if we had been."
He shrugged. "Pretty different, I'm sure."

Yazuri took a breath, her fingers felt her wand it was her usual form of defense and offense when she she was angry. "You couldn't have known..." she paused, "and I should not have spoken like that". Of course her family had many more secrets, many indeed, but she wasn't exactly suposed to go screaming the more noticable ones either. "I shouldn't have told you." She said after. He wasn't any harm of course, he understood the value of family secrets. She doubted he was any real friend to the ministry.
"It's frustrating, having to hide everything", she addmitted, "I nearly failed defense against the dark arts because I was trying to not show what I could do", Her hand still hadn't left her wand. It was her source of power, she could do terrible and great things with just one little wand. More terrible then most. She sat back down taking her hand from her wand.
"I am what they made me", she grimaced. "Sadly the dark arts isn't the worst part of my family history". She left it at that, she didn't feel like explaining the finer points of amazonian rules and traditions.
