Landon Terrance stirred the cauldren in front of him. Usually empt classrooms were used by Slytherin students for snogging, but not Landon he was serious was his potions and this one had been giving him trouble, so practice it is. He sat crosslegged on the floor and all the ingrediants were randomly placed around him, but he seemed to understand it, as he picked up something without looking at it and added it to the mix. It made a small popping noise as it started turning blue.
He still had a lot of step to go, until it was that disturbingly bright pink color. It would figure that the only potion he would ever have trouble with would be love potions, not that he found them at all ethical. Love potions were beneath him, but of to pass he had to learn how to make them and he had to learn how to brew them, just right. It was beginning to turn more purple now. All was going well, so far.

Alexa was probably the most studious of all of the Ravenclaw students, and that was saying something since the most exciting night in the Ravenclaw common room was Study Group Tuesdays.
She was struggling in potions, the love potion Professor Caldwell had given the seventh year students just baffled her. Alexa supposed it was her disrespect for the potion. She was by far not a romantic, but she believed that love shouldn't be left up to magic. That made her careless, and well that just wasn't good enough for Professor Caldwell. He seemed to hold Ravenclaws up to a higher standard because of their scholarly reputations, and Alexa refused to fail.
She was surprised when she walked in, potions supplies in tow, to the classroom to find another student there. A seventh year also, a Slytherin... Landon she thought his name was. Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs had Potions together, but she thought she had seen him in Transfiguration a few times. He was quiet, kept to himself.
"Hi," she said, just trying to be friendly, as she began to set up her cauldron, ingredients, and potions textbook a few tables over.

Landon turned and instantly rolled his eyes, of all the empty classrooms he had to stumble into the one he was currently using, well didn't that just figure. Here he wanted to finisht he potion without interrupt and now he had a Ravie to keep him company.
"Hi", he responded shortly and added another ingrediant the potion was going from purple to a more pinkish color, finally, he still had time to go on it so it looked like he was going to be stuck with this girl for awhile. He casted a sideways glance at her and looked back to his cauldron. Maybe she would just stay on her side and not try to make small talk, he hated small talk.
He began chopping with speed and ease as if he was some practiced chef, as if it would get him out fast enough, it was anything he could do to keep himself busy and not glance sideways, people were just distractions in general.

Alexa glanced sideways at him as she began preparing ingredients. She put them in the cauldron and lit the fire beneath it with a quick flick of her wand. She looked over at Landon. He had returned the greeting, but didn't seem to want to talk more.
She was good at picking up clues, but Alexa unfortunately hated being in a room with someone and not talking to them. "Working on the love potion too?" she asked, just being friendly. Alexa wasn't entirely outgoing and bubbly, but she wasn't terribly shy to the point she was afraid to talk to a guy she had seen randomly around school.

He resisted the urge to sigh as she spoke, small talk, oh goody. "Ya, love potion", he said quickly. He was perfectly happy with the awkward silence that was taking place before. He took another glance at her. She had the color eyes that could rival the blue of his own and his twin of course. greg however had always been.. more open. He respected Landon's strange ways and he was never less then kind to his brother.
"Didn't get it right in class", he added. Maybe if he talked just a little bit more he would fufill his obligation to the small talk gods or something and she'd leave him be. It wasn't enough that he was being cold, as he hunched over his cauldran. It was now rushing into a bright pink, but still not perfect, Landon was a perfectionist.

Alexa could feel the chill in his voice as she began working on her potion. It started out a light lavender... so far, so good. She began chopping up the next ingredient to add. "Yeah, me neither. It's tricky," she said after a few moments. Maybe if she didn't expect a reply right away every time he would be okay with talking to her. She just hated the total silence between two people.
She stirred the mixture carefully, following the instructions in the book to the T but the lavender hadn't deepened. She sighed, unhappy, trying to fix what was wrong. Maybe if she added a little bit more of the last few ingredients, it would work. She tried that, and soon the potion deepened.
Alright, next step.

He simply just nodded, falling into his happy silence again, this is where he was most comfortable. He glanced over and watched her not put enough in, she quickly realized her mistake, well the girl wasn't totally brain dead and then he casted his attention back to his own. It was starting to bubble, it was a strange murky pink now and it needed to become opalescent. He should be able to see clear threw the bottom of the cauldren before its done. He casted his book aside and began adding ingrediants without the directions, he had practiced this too often, besides he found going by feel was much more promising then by text books that never took into account room temperature or anything of that sort. Even the amount of dust particles coudl throw off a potion.
He added a pinch of something and then another, and the potion jumped to life and shot up in the air, pink clouds billowing from it. He felt his cheeks redden slightly, how embaressing, everything about this potion was a joke, another pinch of something and cloud shaped like an arrow peirced perfectly through the center of the heart. Then he stirred and teh clouds evaporated leaving a nausiating, well to him at least, it was suposed to smell pleasent to other people. He threw in a dash of Vanilla it wouldn't change the potion at all, but it would change the smell to more of... home made cookies rather too much cheap cologne. Love potions worked best when personal touches were added because afterall, you were trying to make people you're personal slaves. It was despicable. After the show that his potion put it, the liquid turned clear and the pink dulled into a lighter color.
"Perfect", he said tohimself and forgot entirely another person was in the room, he bottled quite a bit of it, and then added a few more bottles, he figured he'd hand some over to Demitri for some real fun.

Alexa was a little upset that he hadn't replied to her. She was feeling a little uncomfortable, but figured she might as well focus on her potion. Her mind, for some reason, was a little scattered these days as it was. She didn't need some blue-eyed boy distracting her.
Her potion finally began to take form, but she couldn't help but steal sideways glances at Landon. She gasped slightly when she saw him push off his textbook; like a true Ravenclaw, rules were not made to be broken, and little acts of rebellion like that confused her. The book was a guide, it wasn't optional.
Then she saw the clouds form above his cauldron, the heart and then the arrow that pierced it perfectly. When the clouds evaporated, Alexa's nose was caressed with a strong smell of honey, tea, and a brand new, unopened book. When he added the vanilla, the smell intensified and was so perfect. She thought that word just as he said it, making it quite strange.
"Mmm," she mused out loud, not thinking. "It smells like you did a good job," she complimented, smiling at him as her own potion continued to succeed. She looked at him for a moment and then returned her attention back to the cauldron. It needed to simmer for a few minutes, which allowed her to cut up the next few ingredients.

His attention shifted to her, he looked a bit startled for a moment. Smelled? What a weird thing to say. "If your unaccustom to them... or not immune to it's effects it smells like what you want it to smell like, to me it smells like bad cologne and too much perfume because that's exactly what it is", he said in an annoyed tone. All love potions smelled different, when Landon first made them and didn't know how to distinguish it, his smelled like fresh rain and vanilla, now he had to recreate that with added things of his own, because he learned to push past that, because it was all in the fakeness that was the potion.
"Disgusting potions", he said bitterally, mostly to himself. Why was she even speaking again? "Was this the only empty classroom you could find or something", he wanted to correct himeslf since the classroom was in fact not empty when she walked in, he thought bitterally a Ravenclaw would have picked up on that technicallity, but it was too late to change his words now.

Alexa smiled, he thought she was stupid. Just because she was struggling with making her own love potion - mostly because she didn't believe in using them for anything other than to make the room smell good - didn't mean she didn't understand the characteristics of a love potion. "Oh I'm not unaccustomed... I know them quite well, actually. My mum makes them just to simmer and make the house smell good sometimes.... I personally think love potions are ridiculous potions too, but there's nothing wrong with smelling something enjoyable." She didn't understand why he was getting annoyed, Alexa was being perfectly friendly.
Then it hit her; Landon was just a mean guy. He didn't care what she thought, he probably hated her on the basis that she wasn't a Slytherin. Her naturally optimistic nature was too much for him, he probably couldn't stand it, probably wanted to hex her. Alexa suddenly felt very troubled, her stomach turning.
"This... is the potions classroom. It has the storage cupboard with the ingredients I need in it..... another classroom wouldn't work for trying to perfect a potion. That's like studying Herbology in a bathroom." She was becoming defensive now, a tone of sarcasm in her voice that was really just anxiety and fear masked. Landon had no reason - at least not a legit reason - to dislike Alexa. Why was he being so mean?
She tried to pay attention to her potion through this realization, but suddenly it turned bright blue when it was supposed to be a deep lavender.

He listened to her little rant for awhile, watching her features for a moment, following the blue eyes, before looking away, well she was more perceptive then he had given her credit for. "Right", he said suddenly He glanced over at her potion and couldn't keep the smug look off his face. Well he had studied for much longer she probably had. Perhaps she was muggle born, but she had made the classic mistake.
"You put too much ginger in it", he said simply. "You'd think it would make it go red, but instead it acts as oppisite, "If you add another ashwinder egg, it should", he took a step away from his own cauldren and peered into her, "Ya... it should counter act, but you'll have to add", he quickly did the math in his head, "About 3/4 more of rootm to keep it all balanced", it was scary how quickly he coudl assess potions and ingrediants. Course he wasn't about to give away his tricks. "The color won't be exactly right, but slughorn is much too stupid and distracted to notice", he added with a sneer.. mumbling to himself that a ravenclaw should know better then to add too much Ginger.
He disconected interest then and went back to his own cauldron he pointed his wand at it and the liquids inside dissapeared. "scourgify", he said quietly, and the inside was cleaned and sanitized. Love potion getting into another potion could have devastating affects. He then began doing the same to his stirring rod and other objects before starting to organize the ingrediants, including the ones he had borrowed, he'd have to return thoes to the store room.

Alexa was very flustered now, especially since Landon told her how to correct her potion. Alexa Malone was a brilliant witch, very intelligent, but her one flaw was that she allowed herself to get flustered easily, especially by other people.
She shook her head. "No... I'll just start over later." Alexa wasn't the crying type when it came to the rare times she had trouble in schoolwork, but she did get aggravated at herself, and that was obvious in her voice. Landon had just ruined everything with his rudeness. Alexa was so flustered by his unnecessary mean words that she messed up the potion.
She quickly began to clean up, thankful that she had only pulled out a few ingredients that needed to be put back, so she could get out of there quickly. Maybe Landon had another potion to work on, but Alexa wouldn't stick around for that.
"Bye," she said, after she had quickly scourgified her equipment and packed everything up. She hurried out oft he classroom, not even noticing that she had forgotten to grab her wand as she headed out of the dungeons.

Landon sighed, he had done it again running his hands through his hair, the girl didn't deserve his anger, but he had done it anyway. He wasn't sure why he was always like this. He looked to her empty space and saw the wand. "Damn it all to hell", he cursed now alone in the room he quickly pointed his own wand at the cauldren and ingrediants and they flew to their proper places.
"Accio", he said pocketing her wand, surely she would be on her way back for it, or she couldn't have gotten too far, she was most likely heading back to the Ravenclaw dorms, he would just take the most likely path, until he caught up with her. Or found a Ravenclaw who would return it for him. That seemed the better idea.
He quickly gathered his things and slinging his bag over himself headed for the exit of the potions room out into the hallway taking a left to leave the dungeons and head upstairs.

When Alexa got to the top of the stairs, she found a group of Slytherin boys - seventh years, looked like - much bigger than Alexa messing around in the Entrance Hall. When they heard the door open, they turned and saw her, and Alexa reflexively reached for her wand in her pocket.
Her hand found nothing. Her wand wasn't in her pocket. Alexa realized she had left her wand on the table in the dungeons.
"Where are you going?" said one of the larger boys. They were ganging up on her now, moving in, and there was no way she could get back to the doors to get her wand from the potions classroom. There was six of them, nobody else was around.
"I'm just trying to get back to my common room," she said, trying not to sound nervous. She held her bag closer to her, thinking that she could use her potions book to block any hexes and maybe hit one of them in the head to distract them, but she wasn't too strong. Alexa was hoping for a miracle.

She was walking fast he figured, well she had been upset, he traced what he hoped were her steps and headed up the stairs, he didn't take notice to the group of guys from his house huddled around, until he noticed what was huddled in the middle of them, ... great they've got another fifth year or so trapped. He could barely see around them until they had their prey backed up against the wall. He had every intention of going over there and suggesting they move along, before leaving himself when he saw the bright eyes of the girl behind one of the guys.
He was close to her now, his friends at his back and his arms were encasing her against the wall. Landon felt his grip tighten on his wand, felt his mind spin. He watched her face grow fearful and without thinking, or maybe he had thinked he couldn't remember his face was warm. His eyes were dangerous and he rushed forwards the first attack came from his wand and the nearest threat to Alexa flew across the room away from her to the far wall, skidding into it. By the time he reached the other two he simply threw himself at them. Much bigger then him, but they didn't have the advantage, one seemed to get his wits about him quickly and run for his inconscious friend against the wall, the one who wasn't lucky enough to get away recieved a swift uppercut and then was thrown into the wall a few feet from Alexa, he fell against it, but flew back at Landon the boy was taken off guard anyone would jump back from that and it was that that Landon felt the first punch. It stung the side of his face and jarred him he tasted the blood in his mouth from where he had just bit his togue, and he was certain his lip was most likely bleeding to dissorientated he found his wand again and without words the third boy joined the first. Who was scrambling to his feet. They sputtered some words of threat before helping the third boy up and hightailing it. Landon had plenty of rumors about him and the dark arts to inspire fear.
He watched them go wand still pointed at their retreating figures. He placed his wand in his pocket as soon as he saw them turn a corner. Bringing his hand up to his mouth to access the damage, he had only swallowed a bit of blood and he was pretty sure his tongue was stil in tact, it stopped bleeding quickly his lip was only dripping slightly and he wiped it on the collar of his shirt. His eye felt a bit puffy. Now that his addrenaline was kicking down he felt the punch, it was going to leave a bruise, he'd be walking around wiht a black eye tomorrow that was for sure.
"You forgot this", he said holding Alexa's wand out to her with reddned knuckles. He turned to her for the first time. A serious look still on his face. His breathing was still heightened along with his heartrate.
