By the time Kyle had popped into the office with Sophie, he had been about ready to rip his belt off. Why he chose his belt to be his alert, he didn't know...but there was going to have to be a change soon. At least it stopped by the time he appeared at the ministry.
Looking around, he didn't see too many others in yet. Seeing as he had just finished a job and it was Sophie's day off, Kyle was waiting for the entire space to be filled with the majority of their fellow aurors.
"You know anything about this?" He asked Stewart who was sitting, groggy, not too far away from the two. Stewart was an unmarried 30-something that mostly kept to himself. Kyle saw him shake his head and mumble something about it being 3am, and how it better not be just some announcement that they could have made at a more logical time. It was unfortunate, but the higher ups had done that sort of thing before.
Kyle sighed and sat close to Sophie, hoping that he wouldn't have to go out again. He could still smell the ash on his jacket.

Sophie leaned closely to Kyle she was annoyed to say the least and she didn't honestly care right now that they weren't technically supposed to be dating, both being aurors it wasn't exactly a rule, but it was very frowned upon. So if she looked a little too cozy with him, well then she didn't care. She was annoyed and frustrated, they just had the start of something good when they were so rudely summoned away.
"Any news?" she sighed and another Auror popped through the door, she reckoned whatever it was it already had happened and whatever it was they were either do recon or cleanup, and it was something big. Or they were going to raid some stupid pure bloods mansion who stepped over bounds again.

Kyle turned his head to Sophie, and took in her lean. He patted her leg softly and smiled. Hopefully they'd be out of there soon. They could have easily been sleeping right then. Or not sleeping...either way, it was not here and that's what mattered to him.
"Nothing from the others." He sighed. This waiting thing was irritating. And why wasn't the hall being filled as fast as usual? Kyle got an uneasy feeling in his stomach. And he was hoping it was just himself being paranoid.
A few more moments passed before the higher ups finally showed up. He sniffed and watched them, really wanting a cup of coffee at that second. For some reason, he felt like he might need it.
"The 23 of you must be wondering why we only summoned you and not the entire group." Harold Arlett spoke first. He was one of the head of the large group of aurors in the ministry. They rarely saw him, though. Unless there was an occurance such as this. There were murmurs of agreements across the room.
"Well, you 23 have been chosen to be guards at Hogwarts School of Witch and Wizardry. Minerva McGonnagall, the new headmistress, has reported to me personally an overheard conversation of one of the students." He paused and cleared his throat. "It is a small confirmation of our past predictions. The Death Eaters and You-Know-Who are planning on taking over the school."

Sophie couldn't say she was shocked, she knew the school was a target, it was about time her superiors admitted it. She rolled her eyes in the direction of Kyle to express her annoyance at their blindness. If they had just tooken all these precautions before, she was certain a lot of deaths could be avoided, she could see why people turned to the dark, they didn't feel protected by the people who were meant to protect them.
"Looks like we're going back to school", she smiled, that last time she had been at Hogwarts was with Beauxbaton during the twiwizard tournament, the day that Voldemort came back. She watched the face of Harry Potter as he bent over his dead friend. Killed, for nothing. That's the day she decided she wanted to fight all of it. She gave up a career in what could have been quidditch or something just as exciting to be an underpayed overworked Auror and it was all worth it to her.
She smiled at Kyle. Speaking of adventures, her smile turned to a smirk.

Inwardly, Kyle let out a deep breath. Since the duel he'd felt jumpy. It had been only about 6 hours before, but still, he felt odder than usual. And he didn't really understand it. This wasn't the first time he'd killed someone. But after hearing the news that did not have to do with any sort of dueling, or even patrolling for the night put him at ease.
After brushing it off, he looked at Sophie as she whispered to him. A chuckle escaped his lips, and he winked at her. Back to school...he smiled. Kyle had been out of school for four years already. It was going to feel a little weird going back. But he was sure he'd feel pretty good about it. Hogwarts never changed. Even in situations like this one. There was not a falter in the system.
Kyle felt Sophie looking at him again, so he turned his head toward her. She had a funny look, and he raised an eyebrow, wondering what was up. Then he realized it was that look...oh. He grinned and hoped that Harold was going to be finished soon.
Speaking of Harold...Kyle realized he had been zoning out, so he caught only the last part of meeting.
"So get your stuff packed and meet in the Great Hall by 7pm. The rest of your mission will be explained either my Minerva, or by myself." Harold nodded. "Alright, see you guys tonight." And that was that.
