Ok so it wasn't like he planned to be in Hogsmeade the exact weekend she told him she had a Hogsmeade weekend. Well he was there regardless, Fred was in Diagon Alley trying to work out the new floor plan of the store so that left George here, he considered it fate and moved on. He drummed his fingers on the counter, he probably should be circulating he probably should have stopped that girl from pocketing one of their love potions just now, but he was much to anxious trying to look cool and poised behind the register. Every once in awhile looking away from the door to ring someone up.
Perhaps she wouldn't stop by, afterall it wasn't a completely set thing. He was going to drive himself mad thinking about, so he moved from the counter and started circulating the shop setting things back where they belonged and arching his brow at a small kid who's handul of candy was going into his pocket.
"Tell you what mate, you can keep that, if you put these back in order", some of their assortments had gone all wrong and ended up a few shelves over. The kid looked a bit fearful before running off to do as George asked. It really was a pain to be a genious jokemaker sometimes.

When Zoey got up that morning, she immediately had that giddy feeling filling her stomach. At breakfast, she nibbled on some toast and jam and sipped on milk, but otherwise didn't eat much. She had conversations with friends and laughed as Alex told her of his latest prank as they walked to the carriages. But that giddy feeling wouldn't escape.
She tried to tell herself that just because she had told George when her next Hogsmeade weekend was, didn't mean that he would be at their Hogsmeade shop. But she had hopes.
After having a butterbeer with her brother and their friends, she slipped away and headed toward the joke shop. It was usually her brother's last stop when in Hogsmeade, spending about an hour in there, so she hoped to get to see George before the store got too busy.
She walked in and looked around and immediately saw him setting things back on their proper displays.
"Oh, hello," she said, after pushing herself to get the nerves to talk to him. Her giddy stomach was now doing flops - why was she feeling like this?

George turned thinking it was another customer and nearly dropped what he was holding in site of her. "Uhh" he fumbled for words for a second, "Hi", he finally said with a smile and he quickly dumped whatever he was holding onto the nearest shelf no longer caring what was in order. "I see you made it here.. ok" he said lamely mentally kicking himself for how stupid that sounded.
"How've things been?" he said quickly recovering smoothly into leaning against the nearest shelf, his calm had come back to him along with his head, and of course the weasley twin confidence that Fred always used to his advantage, so maybe George would try it out for a second, and just hope she didn't notice that little slip up he had in it upon seeing her. Well the girl was adorable what was he supposed to do, not notice?
"How's classes and everyting going for you?" he finished up with the typical small talk questions.

Zoey smiled as he seemed a little nervous when he saw her, surprised even. Maybe he didn't think that she would really come on the next Hogsmeade weekend? Either way - a little bit of surprise at first was good, right? Zoey wasn't sure - she hadn't ever been this giddy, and wasn't sure how to recognize it in a guy.
"Yeah, it's not that dangerous of a walk here," she quipped back, eyes smiling.
"Classes are alright. Muggle Studies is really interesting though, it's getting harder. How is the joke shop business going?" She preferred the small talk, grateful he went for that, because she wasn't sure what to talk about.
Her stomach could stop flipping any second now, she thought.

George quirked a brow, "It's quite dangerous I assure you, in fact I think you should probably be with an escort next time you decide to go out", the wheels in his head were turning again. "So like, if you perhaps wanted to go to dinner I wouldn't feel like I was doing my civic duty or manly duty for that matter if I didn't go with you". His lips twitched up in a small smile.
"Muggle studies?" He loomed over her a bit, he had a bad habit of doing that, but he was nearly six five, who didn't he loom over, Fred always called it "leaning". So George was leaning, and he was leaning right toward Zoey. "You know my dad is all... freaky about muggle things", he added conversationally acting as if he didn't just ask the girl to dinner. Well sort of.
"So I guess hanging out with me is also good for your academics", he winked.

She laughed nervously. Did he just ask her to dinner? Like a date? Did he just ask her on a date? Zoey was shaking, she was sure of it, in awe and excitement and nerves.
"Uhm, well, it would be a little dangerous for me to venture out and eat alone," she said, smiling. "So I guess you really don't have any choice." What? What did she just say? Zoey couldn't believe her ears - she was flirting. And flirting well.
Her eyes lit up when George talked about his dad. "Really? I'm focusing in Muggle Studies - I want to work in the Ministry in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office, or somewhere where I can work with Muggles or something."

"Fred" he called up to his twin who was flirting with some sixth years it looked like around the love potions section. "Taking my dinner."
"We don't get a dinner", Fred called back.[/color]
"I'll take it up with the bosses later", he turned back to Zoey, "They're real sticklers for the rules here... work", he sighed as if he was wounded. He smiled when she lit up. It was cute to see someone passionate about something. She reminded him a lot of her father when he started talking about some new contraption and the twins of course had always found them interesting. New products line of course.
"So Miss" he offered the girl his arm stiffly and all gentlemanly like, before falling into a more relaxed pose. "Shall we dine". He ignored the whistle of his brother, at which he assumed was aimed towards Zoey and proceeded to leave the shop. Besides its not like Fred could blow it up or something without him there. Well it wasn't likely anyway.

Zoey couldn't help but giggle at the silly banter between the twins. Knowing well what that was like - she shared a similar bond with her own twin brother - it amused her.
"Yeah, I can imagine, I would hate to work for those rule-sticklers," she said back. It was becoming slightly easier to talk to him - though the idea of filling an entire dinner with conversation with him seemed a little daunting. She would figure something out though - perhaps some butterbeer would ease her nerves. Once she relaxed, she'd have no problem chatting.
She put her arm in his all relaxed, and rolled her eyes at Fred's whistle. She was sure he was taunting his brother - Alec would eventually do the same once he got over the fact that his sister was interested in dating someone - and that made her feel excited and a little less calm. The more she realized George was interested, surprisingly the calmer she became.

Once they left the store, he was glad to see she had relaxed and she wasn't all nerves. "Well well", he smiled down at her, still arm in arm he supposed they looked quite strange the greater student population of Hogsmeade, but George was accustom to doing exactly what he wanted how he wanted, with a little bit of loop holes here and there of course. "Are you ready for teh first test?" he asked and a deadly serious look passed his features.
"Exactly where is that you want to eat?" Being the gentleman he let the lady pick the first choice expecting either an answer of "where do you want to go?" in which he would gladly take over the chosing, because afterall, the boy could eat. That meant she might be a bit shy or indecisive, but everyone was on a first date. Yes George was considering this a first date. Or if she picked a place right away, well he had to admire a girl with an appetite who knew what she wanted and then it came down the choosing of the place, he awaited her answer, he could tell a lot about a girl just from one simple question.
"Ladies choice" he smiled.

Zoey laughed. "Well, uhm, let me think," she said. She looked around for a moment, looking at the other students milling about them as well as the numerous buildings around ZOnkos. She was stealing glances at him here and there, taking what he might be hungry for into consideration as well. Her mind was switching between what she wanted for dinner and whether or not this was considered a date. Zoey hoped it was.
"In all honesty, I wouldn't mind just going someplace where I can get a cheeseburger," she laughed. "And a good one. I hope that's all right." She felt silly for wanting something so simple, but oh well. He said ladies' choice, right?

"Hmmm a good cheeseburger", George was impressed, he liked a girl who could eat and eat meat. Honestly, the vegan types creeped him out. It just wasn't natural, because it tasted so good. "It is..." he paused for dramatic "George" effect, "More then alright, it's perfect, to food we go".
He gave her a mischievious grin just then and coming from anyone else, but a Weasley twin, perhaps one might have ignored it, but they were men of action. "Hold on little lady", he pretended to tip his hat and he snaked the arm she was holding around her waste and pulled her to his side, "And don't let go".
With a pop they were gone. So of course she could have apparated by himself. He was certain she was smart enough to have passed the test herself, but it was like muggle guys and driving girls, it was just gentlemanly. Or he hoped it would seem so, and not like some super controlling freak, twitch.
"Muggle joint" he smiled as they stood in the ally behind Jake's Diner, one of George and his brother's favorite place to eat. "Act natural", he did his best smooth guy impression before holding the back door open for her.

Zoey thought she would die and go to Heaven when George put his arm around her waist and pulled her close. She wasn't aware they'd be apparating, and though she could have easily apparated herself, she didn't mind him pulling her to his body and her wrapping her own arms around him.
She didn't recognize the restaurant, but it looked cozy and fun - simple. When George told her it was a Muggle place, she nearly squealed in excitement - but was smart enough to control herself. Instead she leaned close to him and whispered "I haven't been to a Muggle restaurant since I was a little girl!"
She was thankful she hadn't decided to wear robes to Hogsmeade, as it was a little bit chilly on this September day, instead donning a pair of jeans and a light sweater.

"Really?" he was surprised. "Everything might be slower, but they know how to make damn good food", he said back in a low tone. He took off his more fashionable dragon skin jacket and did a sort of reverse accio on it to send it come, it flew away with a pop. "Hopefully it makes it this time", that was his fifth jacket afterall. Underneath he wore jeans and a sweater, one his mom had made of course. George had no shame, it was true.
As he led them through the back hallway he nodded to the guys working in the kitchen. "Hey lads" he greated them most of them simply nodded or raised a hand in his direction. He didn't go up to the front to be seated he simply sat down in a booth near the back. This was afterall he and Fred's table.
"We come here a lot" he shrugged as an explantion. "So Miss Zoey, have I dazzled you with my knoledge of run down looking burger joints and muggle restaurants yet", he joked.

Zoey smiled as they walked through the back of the resturaunt - from what she remembered this wasn't normal procedure. But it was George - she assumed that someone who is such a jokester and good with people to just do what he wanted and get away with it.
She nodded at the few cooks who acknowledged them. It was cool to see the back where the food was being cooked - especially cooked with Muggle technology. She couldn't help but stare at the contraptions around the kitchen. Giant silver things, fire underneath black pans with food in them. One flat black thing with rounds of meat cooking on top of it - it was all fascinating to her, though she'd never let them know she wasn't used to seeing things like that.
As they sat down, Zoey looked around the resturaunt - it was a homey kind of place, lots of people milling about, and bright with a lot of smiles.
She turned to him and laughed. "Oh definitely, I don't know what I'd do to find a decent cheeseburger in England with your expertise." She winked at him, finally calming down.
"What else do you do a lot?" More small talk, but it could easily be deeper conversation if necessary.

"Apart from my store?" a silent waitress came with silverware and menus and then left quickly, just because George frequented often didn't mean that the staff didn't know there was something quite off about him. "I can't honestly think of anything else I do a lot. It's my life" Well besides his job it was his family of course. Weasleys always had strong family ties.
"Guess im not as interesting as I thought" he laughed. It was good to laugh at yourself. "What about you? A part from an obvious interest in muggle contraptions?"
