Tom Riddle stared at the old mahogany chest laying before him. It was wrapped in a red bow, a gift. He raised his wand and the ribbons slithered away, moving like Nagini. With another simple flick, the box opened.
Inside was a Muggle, an individual he had never seen before and therefore knew held no importance. The Dark Lord smiled to himself. This is good, he thought. The Vogel boy was doing well in his training. He was promising, despite his youth. Just the mere fact that he had been capable of killing an innocent showed good sign. He was exactly what Voldemort looked for in a Death Eater.
Voldemort closed the lid on the corpse, it slamming shut with a loud THUD! He turned around and moved to the head of the table at the end of the dining hall. He took his place in the chair, and waited for Avatra to return and give him a full account of what had gone on between her and their newest recruit.
Nagini slithered her way up the chair and around the top, resting her head on Tom Riddle's shoulder. He looked over to her and idly ran his bony, cold finger on top of her head, from her eyes to where he head ended, and then back. "Things are looking up, Nagini," he said. And indeed, they were.

When Avatra entered she did it with perfect grace. She always moved more like a cat then a human. "My lord", she said her head was bowed. She stopped at the entrance. She had a small smile on her face however. Good he had gotten the message well enough.
"He is doing exceptionally well, and his mind proves to be very strong as does his will", she looked up into the face of her lord and master. She never really groveled, not to him. She wasn't his slave she was his servent. What she did she did williingly and fully. She rememberred to breathe just then and she opened her mind completely. Her mind was his to see, and use, whatever he wanted.
"He showed no remorse", she paused, "And he for the most part resisted my charms", she nodded. A bit of an annoying fact, but that meant he wouldn't go telling secrets to the first pretty woman who's begging him to take her.

The Dark Lord nodded as Avatra came in and bowed, showing her respect and servitude to him. She was one of his favorites, as she was so willing to do his bidding. Not only that, but because of her sex appeal and her charm, she was able to do so much. What a wonderful tool.
He watched her in silence as she spoke, and then the minute she went quiet he began searching her memories. He saw the boy speaking to her, his reactions to the Muggle in the corner. He saw a little hesitation - not what he liked, but that could be fixed - and watched him kill the Muggle. He watched the boy's smug look of satisfaction after the worthless body fell limp and life escaped it. Perhaps the hesitation was for another reason... that would be discovered later, when Voldemort decided it was time for him to meet Ava Vogel's younger brother.
"Very good, Avatra. You are right, he is doing very well." Nagini slithered her way down his shoulder and curled part of her body in his lap, the rest of it still trailing up his shoulder. He reached down and put his hands along her neck.
"He is doing remarkably better than his sister, something she won't take well when she finds out." His eyes looked Avatra up and down. She had done exceptionally well when she was trained, one of the best. No hesitation, no remorse, and quickly became eager for more. Her mind was strong, though there were, and she quickly became stronger. He was hoping that Ryan Vogel turned out to be that way as well.

Avatra nodded, and although it pained her to admit Ryan Vogel would probably be stronger then her in the mind at least, eventually his skills would surpass her teaching abilities. "His mind.." she paused, she never liked to be outdone especailly in front of her dark lord, but the need for strong deatheaters were more important then her petty ego, and she understood that. "It is very strong, stronger then mine, with practice, my lord, I will eventually exhaust my knoledge, extensive as it is, when that time comes... it would be wise to keep training him.
No one ever demanding anything of the dark lord they merely suggested and if he trusted Avatra's opinion as he had done in the past then Ryan was in for a very extensive education, one that went far beyond Hogwarts.
"I would like permission to spend more time with him, if I may." She said seriously speeding up the process could only help, it wasn't enough that she could train him on his little hogmeades breaks, holidays, and weekends he should have her full attention just as she was trained.

Tom Riddle watched Avatra as she spoke. She was a good follower, and he hadn't raided her mind to check for honesty in years. He would have to do this with Ryan.
He liked Avatra's modesty, but chuckled when she mentioned how he would surpass her. "I would not be so quick to judge him so greatly, Avatra," he said, his voice like a serpent. "He may be strong, but I doubt he can surpass you so quickly. You are quite strong, and from what I see in your mind he is indeed strong. But he may struggle in other areas."
He was quiet for a moment, thinking and considering her request. "Yes, I think that is best," he finally spoke. "Spend as much time teaching him as you feel is necessary. When you feel the time is right, let me know. I trust that you will not disappoint me, but do not feel the need to rush. Teach him everything you know, and don't forget anything."
Voldemort closed his eyes and idly ran his fingers along Nagini, who had taken to curling up entirely in his lap. He was liking the way things were looking.

"Of course my lord", she bowed before him lightly, her wand already in her hands, she pointed at the "present" "Would you like me to dispose of that now my lord?" she asked. She was on her way out anyway so it would be rude not to ask especailly since she dropped the thing in his pressence. (bleh short)

The Dark Lord opened his eyes and glanced at the "present." It was a good present, but it was also taking up space. "Yes, Avatra, dispose of him, however you feel appropriate."
(bleh mine was short too)

Like a good little minion she curtseyed, as if she could ever pass for a lady, bowing her head, "Of course my lord", she smiled and pulled her wand, herself and the chest departed the room. She had a boy to train.
