There's a time and a place for everything, but right now was not the ideal moment or location for a midnight wandering. Three in the morning and the darkness was still reaching out in every direction. There were no stars. Jack had learned not to miss them. Instead he felt a cold chill, which considering the month, was unusual.
He had gone to sleep early that afternoon following an exausting day doing nothing but staring at tea leaves and the crystal ball. Nothing. Not so much as a predicive stab at the weather. Jack he given up and gone to sleep before the sun had even started to set, and now during the ridiculous hours of the morning he was wandering around Riddle Manor, his barefeet on the cold floor and nothing but a pair of low slung tracksuit bottoms. Goosebumps prickled all over his skin but a trace of sweat lined his brow and glistened over his bare torso, stomach and shoulders.
He wasn't sue if it was a noise outside that had woken him, or his imagination, or his Sight. All he knew was he felt an unnatural need for some fresh air. Like a shadow of a man, or maybe a man possessed, he walked through the silent house. From what he could tell he was one of the very few in the Manor. He didn't even know if Voldemort was here or not. He turned a corner and descended the stairs into the main lobby when he saw a figure in the dark.
Silently Jack withdrew his wand from the waistband of his trousers and continued down the stairs, unaware who the other person was or why they were up at such an antisocial time in the night. After several moments of silence, Jack finally spoke
"..Sir?"

Ophelia Grey was just coming in from feeding. She normally wasn't one to stay with humans, whether wizards and witches or Muggles, but her fascination with the Dark Lord and devotion to Him for the past fifty or so years made her make an exception. She was happy to stay here.
It wasn't unusual for Death Eaters to be coming and going inside Riddle Manor at all hours at the night, but usually after 1 or 2 it was silent and dead except for her. Not that Ophelia wasn't either of those things. She was one of the more ghost-like vampires that she knew. What with her old style, black dresses and pale skin with dark features. It was the fact that she wasn't gray and somewhat transparent that one could tell she was still living.
So when she came back to the manor at 3am, she was surprised to sense a human - definitely a wizard - in the darkness.
Ophelia chuckled a bit when the voice called out for her Dark Lord. "No, just one of his servants." Her voice was light hearted and sing-song like, but there was a dark and dripping cruel undertone to it that anyone could sense. "And who may you be?"

The female voice rang about the entrance hall and Jack knew he shouldn't have said anything. One of his servants? On of his slaves, more like. Jack lit his wand and the faint beam of light landed on Ophelia's face. 'Vampire' he thought to himself.
"Jack DeBlanc." He replied to the question softly. Most Death Eaters knew of him, even if they hadn't met him yet. He wasn't sure if he'd met this woman before him. her face wasn't particularly familiar, though if she was a Vampire she was probably not on his list of people to become friendly with. Jack paused, before smiling for a brief moment.
"You fancied a late night stroll as well?"

"Oh, hello Jack," she said nonchalantly, finally meeting the supposed Seer that her Dark Lord favored. Why he would trust a man who refused to be Marked was beyond her, but Ophelia never distrusted his judgment. He had ways of knowing the truth.
Her laugh was more like a cackle, so she sounded a bit like an old hag when she found his response amusing. "A stroll? Not me. More like dinner." Her eyes searched him up and down and she walked closer, but keeping a distance away. No matter what her Lord said about Jack, Ophelia was not required to trust Jack. "But you already knew that," she smirked, poking fun.

"No offense, but your idea of dinner puts me off my own. Better to keep ignorant to that sort of thing.. It's bad enough that Fenrir keeps dragging prey back here and leaving their little faces in twisted horror" Jack frowned, his wand still lit but his free hand resting on his hip. He shook the thought of the werewolf and looked at Ophilia.
He thought how awkward this was. He'd had conversations with vampires before, but never Ophilia. He'd seen her around the manor, but never bothered to strike up a conversation. He wasnt sure what to talk about, if anything, so took a step forwards. "Going to get something to drink, if you want anything.." Jack started in the direction for the kicthen, before turning his head over his shoulder "Not meaning blood" He added as an afterthought

Ophelia cackled a little bit. "Does a little blood make the Seer all nauseous and sick?" she taunted. She had little respect for Jack. "Fenrir.... that's his business, doll, you'll have to take up your problems with him." Her tongue slipped quickly out of her mouth and licked up a droplet of blood she had felt there, then ran her tongue over her sharp teeth.
She laughed again, but followed him to the kitchen. "Blood is natural... even humans have drank it before for their own sustenance," she stated, walking as if she were floating. "I'm sure you would drink some if you had to, so don't go knocking it." Ophelia looked him up and down, judging him.
"Unless of course, you want to try it."

Jack didn't know what to make of her. Like a typical Vampire, he seemed to want to seduce him. Whether that meant she wanted to kill him, or to use him for some other mortal sin, Jack didn't know, and wasn't keen to find out.
"You think anybody can reason with that animal?" Jack asked, raising an eyebrow as he padded into the kitchen to find a drink. Typically there was very little in the Riddle house. It seemed that Death Eaters did not like to stick around any longer than necessary. Certainly they didn't stay for afternoon tea and cake. Grabbing a glass from a cupboard, Jack took out his wand and conjured some water intothe glass. He took a sip before looking at Ophelia properly.
One couldn't say she was unattractive. If she were human he'd certainly say she was pretty. Almost beautiful, were it not for the fact that she hunted mortals to feast upon. He looked down into his glass of water before taking another sip.
However when she mentioned him trying blood, Jack did a double take, looking at her eyes then her fangs. Was she offering him blood, or simply tormenting him? "I don't want to become immortal. A single lifetime is too long for me" Jack said finally after several moments silence on his part. He'd never understood why people would want to become immortal apart from the fact as they were so afraid of death. Surely life was too exhausting, and to prolong it... He shook his head slightly. "Besides, I don't think you'd find a Vaqmpire willing enough to turn me"

Ophelia pouted, but it didn't look innocent. "That animal? We're all animals, he's just a little closer to the uncivilized sort than you or me. And one could reason with him, but I doubt he'd reason for the likes of you." She was mean. Ophelia, even when she was a mortal human, had never been the type of person to lie. The only difference is that now she is a bitch about it, when before Ophelia would tell someone the truth in a kind manner.
Kindness had escaped her. She shrugged. "I didn't mean it like that, though I'm sure you'd love for me to bend over you and bite into your skin. I know I wouldn't mind it either, if I myself turned you right here." She eyed him. A single lifetime being too long? Did the poor boy want to live fast, die young? That's a thing, Ophelia thought. Why not live fast and never die?
Ophelia walked - or maybe glided - over towards Jack. She didn't get too close, but she was close enough. "Anyways, you can drink blood without being a vampire, or even becoming one. I wasn't talking about my blood, I would never give up something so precious for someone who wasn't worthy. But I know mortals. Or at least, I can get to know them," she winked, letting him know exactly what she meant. There was no shame in a little curiosity, a little experimentation, pretending to be another creature, allowing a vampire to kill someone so you can try out the lifestyle.
Of course, Ophelia didn't think for a second that Jack would take her up on the offer. He didn't seem the adventurous type.

"Fenrir is a fucking monster" Jack said, his face etched in a frown. But that was where he left the matter. Of course that werewolf would never listen to him. He'd pissed him off far too many times by disturbng his hunt and once or twice even let his prey get away. Fenrir didn't take too kindly to people letting his dinner get free. The last time, the werewolf had turned on Jack and it was only by sheer luck that Jack had managed to stun Greyback. Wereolves, like giants and other magical creatures, had a different resistance to magic than humans.
"Tempting as that might be" Jack said, his voice difficult to detect any emotion, "I think I'll pass. Never know if I'll get addicted" He finished his drink of water in one go, placing the glass back down on the worksurface before looking back at the vampire. She was close enough to touch, and he wondered if that was intentional. Was she trying her vampire charms, or her femine ones?
"Besides.. I dont know how Vampires turn humans, but I can't imagine it would be simple or particularly pleasant." Jack didnt shudder, but the thought was almost enough to make him feel a knot growing in his stomach.

Ophelia only shrugged. In all honesty, werewolves and vampires weren't all that different. They both preyed on humans, Fenrir just chose children, while Ophelia chose unsuspecting and easily seduced men. Of course, werewolves could still use magic while vampires couldn't, and didn't rely solely on humans for sustenance, and could even prevent their change, but Ophelia wasn't completely jealous. Being a vampire had its perks too.
She smiled. "You haven't been listening properly. It's only addicting once you need it, and you'd only need it if I made you need it, if you catch my drift. I'm sure you could try it as a human and not get hooked." Her voice was taunting, yet there was an edge of something - seduction? - in it. She walked closer and was merely inches from his face, their bodies almost touching.
Ophelia grinned again, leaned close, and whispered. "I could always teach you how humans become vampires," she breathed. "It doesn't take much.... just a little.... bite." Her mouth was just above his neck, but she didn't move it any closer. She just looked at him, watched his reaction. She didn't think he would actually allow her to change him, and Ophelia honestly wouldn't. He would lose his power as a Seer, and though that thought made Ophelia happy, her Lord would be upset. She would never do anything to upset her Dark Lord, just tease the poor wizard standing in front of her a bit. There wasn't any harm in a tease.

"Just a little bite?" Jack replied, looking at Ophelia carefully. She was to close for comfort, but Jack did not move away. He could smell her, and he felt slightly intoxicated by the smell of her. Was it perfume, or simply.. her?
He took a deep breath in, as if he was about to say or do something, before he cleared his throat. She was almost getting to him. Jack had never been in such close contact to a Vampire before, so didn't know how dangerous they could be. It eas obvious Ophelia was not to be judged by looks alone. She was smart an seductive and almost brilliant enough to have Jack wrapped around her fingers.
"But I dont think it would work between us" The young man said eventually, his lips twitching slightly into a very brief smile. He took a step backwards and automatically felt as if a weight had been taken from his chest. "I dont respond well to authority, and if I remember rightly, if a Vampire turns a human, then they share a certain bond.. I'd prefer to remain detatched" Jack muttered, his dark eyes still hiding a trace of temptation.
Sure, he'd lose his Sight. The most precious thing, but Vampires were... Well, they went against everything Jack really believed in. Which might have been why it was so alluring.

She could tell he wanted her to bite him, or at least perhaps just to touch him, kiss him. He breathed in her scent deeply and knew that he was attracted; there was no denying how his faced looked right now, how he found it hard to step away from her. He wanted her.
But, the Seer was smart, and Opehlia hadn't bothered turning her charm all the way up. When he stepped away, it wasn't that big of a surprise to her.
"Well maybe not now," she said, grinning at him. "But time changes people, and though I don't have Sight I can tell that you may eventually want it more than I can already tell that you do." She turned around and started heading for the door. As she reached it, she turned back around.
"If you're worried about bonds, don't be. They can be broken quite easily. You know where to find me." Ophelia winked at him, gave him one last sexy smile, and headed to her room upstairs. She didn't want to turn Jack - at least not at this moment - but he had definitely shown an interest, which surprised her. Maybe she could develop an interest herself, with time.
