Landon hung over the rail quite near the Ravenclaw common room, it was late, almost time for lights out and past hours, but he had been there for a few minutes now, he had some odd looking green book in his hands, his intent on if he ran into her. A book she might like to borrow, how lame could he be. It was a book on potions of course, but it explained them better then he had ever seen, especailly the more complex ones. It wasn't exactly sold anywhere, because honestly, it was written by Landon's uncle, not the nicest guy, but he knew his stuff. Horace Terrance, locked in azkaban, and most of his books had been pulled off the shelves, but the man was a genious when it came to expaining things in way people can understand, in a way that made sense in Landon's brain, he figured Alexa might want to take a look at it, because just wanting to see Alexa couldn't register in his brain right now.
He took a deep breath, starring at the familiar cover, and flipped to the back where a picture of his uncle smoking his pipe sitting in a red velvet chair winked at him, he quickly turend the book back over. He remembered when he was getting his "lessons" from his Uncle, how he and his brother banded together for the first time in years to take him down, and now he was locked away. Hopefully to never be heard from again.

Alexa was just returning from a stroll along the Hogwarts grounds, where she had stopped and rested at the lake and watched the merpeople. She had been reading until dusk, and then stayed for a little bit longer just watching the water move. It was calming for Alexa, who quietly had been singing Spanish lullabies to herself as she sat there, until she realized it was late and she needed to be heading back.
She had just gotten to the top of the stairs when she saw Landon Terrance standing at the railings. There wasn't much else to do here, aside from go into the Ravenclaw Common Room or practice spells in one of the empty classrooms, so she found it odd to find the Slytherin just standing at the rail, with what looked like a book in his hand.
Alexa walked over to him, curious. "Hi, Landon," she said, her voice soft. "What are you doing here?"

The sound of her voice startled Landon out of his thoughts and he went wide eyed for a moment before regaining his composure. He pushed himself off the rail and stood to face her, "I umm.. I was just around" he said stupidly, it was sort of obvious he had been waiting for her.
There was a pause before he rememberred his even lamer back story. "Actually I thought you might want to take a look at this", he held out of the book for Alexa to take. "It's really good at explaining potions, it just puts it in a way that people understand and umm that love potion we had to do, well it's in there", he shrugged. His cool, usual demeanor was back, even though she had seen it all but disolved a few days before in the hallway. He could have killed those kids, as was they were keeping a wide distance from him around the slytherin common room. His hand had all but healed from punching the one, too bad the kid's black eye was taking a bit longer then that. Landon had to give the guy a smug look everytime he saw it.
Demitri of course had taken the story and ran with it, Landon the saver of helpless women. Alexa was anything, but helpless, but what was Landon to do when Demitri was involved, just sit there and roll his eyes was his usual tactic.

Alexa smiled as he spoke. He was definitley waiting for her - there was no reason to be near the Ravenclaw common room like that, she never saw him with other Ravenclaws. The only people who used the common rooms for practicing spells - and sometimes, ahem, other types of practicing - were Ravenclaws. She would have blushed, but it seemed like he was just being nice.
Of course, Demitri had been telling the story of Landon saving Alexa quite often, but Alexa shrugged it off when people had asked her about it. Maybe not all Slytherins were jerks, she had told her inquisitive friends.
"Oh, well, thanks," she said, taking the book. Potions wasn't her favorite subject, but she wanted to do good at it. This book would definitely help. She looked at it, turned it over in her hands, but didn't open it so she hadn't seen who it was by.
"I hope you weren't waiting for me for too long," she said, looking up at him, watching him. Landon was kind of a mystery to her, and it got her curious Ravenclaw mind working.

"A few minutes", he smiled a bit, if he was already digging himself a hole might as welll build a ramp to get out of it and start telling a the truth. "You just seemed to have struggled, it's what taught me", of course he had collections and collections of his uncle's books most were kept at home that weren't confiscated from the military.
"They haven't said anything more to you have they?" he asked in a serious tone, they of course being her attackers a few nights ago. He doubt they had tried anything more. "And you've kept your wand on you", the last bit was more in a joking manner, see Landon could relax, the thought of Alexa being hurt in any way shape or form was kind of pissing him off though. He supposed it would be the same for any girl. He was the same protective way over his mother.

Alexa smiled. Letting her borrow the book, especially without her asking, was very gallant and thoughtful of Landon, two words she never thought would describe the Slytherin boy who seemed to be such a jerk.
"Potions has never been my strong suit," she admitted. "This should definitely help me." And hopefully, it would. Alexa would look through it later tonight, as she had Potions the next day and Slughorn was expecting them to make the love potion again.
She shook her head. "No, they've left me alone," Alexa said. "I think they're afraid of you... and of course, my wand is on me at all times." She rolled her eyes. Alexa had her wand on her before, on the night of the would-have-been attack - but she had been so surprised and distracted by Landon and how rude he had been that she hadn't been thinking.
"Have they said anything to you?

"Ya it's not really an accepted type of book, so I'd be careful who you read it around", he shrugged, he figured he should give her warning before someone thinks she's going for the dark arts, there were some darker potions that you would definetly not find in their school books.
"You mean besides cowering down behind arm chairs when I walk by?" he smirked, "No they haven't, although it started a great deal many rumors", he rolled his eyes, how the girls in his house could spread something was... it was just impressive. Perhaps thats maybe why he stuck to himself, and of course Dimitri was above rumors most of the time and his other friend, Yazuri, she barely talked.
"The hand is all better though", he held up the hand that was bruised from punching the guy when he got close enough, it had hurt like hell. Landon had been in fist fights before he grew up in a violent house for the first years of his life, and told to look down on people especially non pure-bloods. It was a hard mantra to break. However used to the sting of a bruised hand and cracked knuckles it still stung.

Alexa opened the book and pieced through it, quickly finding the love potion that she had been working on for her potions class. Professor Caldwell was making them redo it again tomorrow. She saw the notes and tips and her face lit up. She knew that this book would definitely help her pass.
"I will..... I'll copy down the instructions on a piece of parchment and put it in my regular potions book then. Thanks, Landon," she said as she pulled all of her hair to the side. Her long blonde locks were wavy and tangled. It had gotten windy down by the lake.
"I'm glad that your hand is better... though it didn't look like you were too disappointed about having to hit them," she joked with him. "I've heard some of the rumors too, but I think mostly those kids are just glad you didn't hex them any worse."
She looked away, not for any particular reason other than to shift her gaze to the entrance to her common room. "Are you headed to dinner by chance?" Alexa asked him, suddenly realizing that she had been meaning to put her bag away and head down to the Great Hall when she had run into Landon and gotten distracted.

"Yeah no problem", he shrugged.
When she mentioned about him not being disappointed, he smiled. It was all he could to not start the macho man bragging. The kids had it coming, but his mother had taught him proper manners around ladies. Not that Alexa was boring and stuffy like his mother's friends. His thoughts were getting off track. "I uhh..." Was all he managed to stutter out at first. Shit when did he become such a pansy. "Yeah, guess they deserved it though", he said as if he did stuff like that everyday. "Worse would be giving you my wand, and letting you have a go at them", he had charms and the like with the Ravenclaw throughout their Hogwarts years and dear god would he never want to face her in a duel.
"Dinner?" he stalled for time. He was about to auto respond that he had already ate, but his quick thinking shut him up. "Actually ya", he lied. "You? I could umm walk with you." He realized he was sounding macho again. He didn't want her thinking that he thought that she needed protected. Oh great now his own thoughts weren't even making a lick of sense. "You know in case a group of Slytherin girls try to tear my clothes off or something", he followed up with a classic joke thanking Dimitri silently for rubbing off on him all these years. Although Dem would probably have gone into a rant about cat fights and how unbelievably hot that would have been, Landon kept those thoughts in his head however.

Alexa laughed. Was Landon nervous? She couldn't tell - maybe just hungry. "Well if I hadn't been so caught off guard I would have been able to hex them," she said. But part of her was glad that she was being distracted at the time the jerks had found her.
She smiled when he offered to walk with her, but then felt weird when he mentioned the Slytherin girls. Why did that matter? Maybe he wasn't trying to flirt with her - maybe he was just being nice. Or maybe he was just flirting? He did say it jokingly... oh rats, there went her little crazy in her head. Alexa blinked and nodded her head.
"Yeah, I just need to drop my books off in my dormitory, then I'll come back out and we'll walk to the Great Hall? I'll be right back." She turned around and headed inside the common room and ran up the tower to her dormitory.
All of the Ravenclaws were already down at dinner, or at least she didn't see any. She set her bag down on her bed and grabbed a sweater before heading back out to meet Landon.

"Ya sure", Landon replied as she turned to head into the Ravenclaw common room. He watched her as she went and enjoyed the view, well he was only a seventeen year old male after all, what did one expect of him. He cleared his throat and pushed away his male-ish thoughts as she reentered his view.
"Ready then?" he asked as they started towards the Great Hall. Nevermind how he would explain to his friends why he was back after he had just come from there. He was getting weird looks as is after his little explosion on some of the other Slytherin boys. Granted Landon was never known for his calm demeanor. He had a temper to match that of his Uncles, he always had.
He shoved his hands in his pockets as they walked not knowing what else to do with them. "Dem has a whole thing planned for these stairs soon", he said conversationally. "Something to do with a great deal of water is all know", he had watched his friend in vain try to find a way to summon water from the lake to inside the castle, whatever it was, it had to be big. Demitri was planning on going out with a bang and if he got kicked out of school, the better for him he could start working sooner. He had a brilliant mind for the theatrics of pranks.
"I'd stay alert if I were you", he joked. Althought it probably wasn't bad advice. Water and stairs could only amount to so many things.

Alexa nodded and followed in step next to him as they headed down the stairs. She pulled the sweater on as they walked, as it was getting chilly in the castle.
She listened intently as Landon explained Demetri's plans. Hogwarts had been a little bit more boring since the Weasley twins had left, but Demitri was definitely attempting to make up for it dramatically. Alexa appreciated the pranks, mostly because she had not yet fell victim to them.
"I'll definitely keep a look out," she smiled. "Sounds like it could be quite a plan. Do you ever help Demitri out with his pranks?" she asked, wondering.
Landon did not seem like the prankster or jokster type, but then again he also didn't seem like the "help out poor Ravenclaw girls who are about to be attacked by Slytherins" type. In a way, Alexa just planned on being surprised by him from now on. First, saving her, then bringing her the book? The boy was full of surprises.
But Alexa liked surprises.

Landon was watching his feet for a bit, but looked up when she asked him a question, a mischievous smile came to his face "Help?" he pretended to be appalled, "Of course not!" Sure he had figured a way for something of great volume to be moved all at once. And last year when Dem made all the paintings in the dungeon speak Chinese, he helped him turn the spell from living to inanimate objects. He just kept his participation on the down low. Demitri may have been ready to leave school, but Landon was not.
"He's actually brilliant, if he would put his mind to something useful he may be able to figure out how to solve world hunger or something ridiculous like that", Landon laughed a bit to himself. He had the conversation a great many times with Dem. He stopped reminiscing realizing he was probably ignoring Alexa, besides best friend or not, he should probably stop talking Demitri up. He was getting ahead of himself again.
He had everything in place, the elements he would need were in a circle, it was a bit of old wizardry, but it would work. His wand was in his hand, this was going to be epic. It wasn't until Demitri spotted Landon and Alexa headed down the stairs that he paused for a moment. Didn't he tell him to stay off the stairs today? Or was that next week.
"Sorry Mate" he said to no one in particular, he felt a little bad that the beautiful Alexa had to fall victim to it as well, but the hordes of people about to leave the great hall after having dessert was too perfect to pass up. With a flip of his wand and a loud snapping sound that could probably be heard around the entire school Demitri's plan went into action.
Landon had a split second to react to the popping noise as he grabbed the railing as the stairs under his feet smoothed over into a slide. It wasn't exactly steep, but if he wasn't watching his step. he reached out for Alexa to steady her as well out of reflex.
Demitri's face being pulverized by his fist had a moment to pop into his mind before another snap could be heard. "Not good", he said aloud.
